vibe: currently eating boiled peanuts and drinking mint tea, these do not go together. its the time of year where mornings are cold enough for a sweater but as soon as the sun comes up its hot as shit. i don't know how i feel about it

so i have a lot of things to say this week. lets not lollygag!!

i got my hobonichi order this week!! love how fast the shipping is for something we cannot use until december at the earliest. but i got the moomin snufkin weeks... i'm going to kill myself because of how cute it is. despite using the weeks since 2015 i always like to see how other people are using it. i haven't switched it up in years, but its always interesting. i have also done the terribly sink-staining task of cleaning my fountain pens, to refill with my favorite rikyucha, which is a poopy swampy green/brown, love her. september is stationery season, and since i have no plans to go to japan this year i'm debating if i should be reasonable and not buy stuff, because i don't need stuff, but i did just link a yoseka link, because i love spending money...

i got a switch 2 also :3 it took a long time to transfer my data from my switch to the switch 2 because the SD card wasn't the correct one or whatever. as children of the 90s my brother and i have always bought physical games, so he had donkey kong bananza, star fox, and xenoblade chronicles. then nick and i bought physical copies of persona 3 reload, and elden ring. and i bought big walk!! i convinced some of my other friends to also buy it despite never playing it lol. nick is saying elden ring is too difficult for me (and maybe??) but he loves dark souls so i kept talking about it so he would buy it and that worked!! he already played it a bunch. he has been watching me play persona 3 so i dont know if this is a game i can play without him, and in the meantime i've been playing donkey kong bananza. sean and kenneth and i played big walk for about an hour too!! so fun, so cute.

should i properly start outlining week notes with a media diary section? possibly. it might also force me to finish things. i hate finishing games... theres sooo many games i know are ending and i stop playing it so i don't have to watch it end. but i can also do anime and movies... books... like a real blogger. maybe!!

speaking of movies i saw filipinana. okay i must say that i am ilocano. it is somewhat relevant because i am watching this movie with the lived experience of being filipino. i needed to talk about this movie with someone!! theres a lot of really good themes that the movie brings up and doesn't really discuss. like whats the film trying to say? a lot! and i think thats where it kind of falls short. first of all, i am planning a family trip to the philippines in january 2027. this is a crazy movie to watch knowing what kind of life i will be living there and just hours before i was saying "should we just hire a driver for the two weeks were there?" and for context were gonna be in the province not a city. i think i've seen this movie described as an "eat the rich" type film similar to parasite but i don't necessarily think thats true? in terms of class i don't think demonstration of gross wealth through the eyes of a poor provincial girl is necessarily a discussion of class. or maybe its just such a boring topic to me. it has been done a lot, and generally nothing new is ever added. but i think the colorism and corruption was much more interesting to me.

first cousins book club meeting was so nice! we covered the first 12 chapters of blood over bright haven. someone accidentally read the whole book... but it was fun to talk about!! i suggested we should do a fancast of characters after reading the book. partially because it would help me since i can't visualize. and i think in november and december were gonna try to do our meeting in person for the holidays. and i can get my physical membership card :3

but anyways, i'm going to make banana bread and some granola!! bye
