okay whats up

vibe: drinking a coffee i made and then got cold because my dog seems to know when i make a fresh cup of coffee and thats when she wants to go outside and i'm lazy and not carrying a cup of coffee around while i stand and watch my dog sniff the same spots she always does. and texting a few ppl... trying to make summer plans even though june is mostly over.

gas is $5.45 a gallon!! which was suspiciously cheap for a chevron... summer blend works like shit. thanks california.

i have a lot of errands i want to try to do today!! like go to the post office to buy postcard stamps because i still havent sent out postcards from copenhagen and boston oops.

anyways i was in vegas monday-wednesday. its not a very mariah location but i do love vegas. its hot as fuck, public transit sucks (although i've taken the deuce many times), drinking water and showering water is gross and hard and its debaucherously expensive. but i have never had a bad experience. there is no fakeness about vegas, once the sun rises its exposed for what it is and i think i love that. i also prefer fremont street to the strip, so i'm not sure what that says about me but probably not anything good. i love the desert. we were standing outside a ranch 99 trying to buy soju but the lights were on and the sun was setting and it was just nice. once the sun goes down vegas in fun. for daytime fun, the pinball hall of fame and the writers block exist. but just stay inside and (non-alcoholically) re-hydrate is my advice. electrolytes are gonna be helpful. or just make gatorwine and live a lil i guess.

most of my trips to vegas have been for and with family. i think i've only gone once with a friend and it was just as a part of a roadtrip. we stayed inside and went to pick up food to bring back to eat inside the nicely air-conditioned house. it was a high of 108, and i was with canadians. i'm ashamed to admit this, but i went to get the trader joes mini totes since they dropped that day. i have trader joes totes that predate my relationship with nick. i have been using them and when california banned plastic bags i bought my grandparents, my mom, my aunts and a few other people the regular sized totes. i have gifted many to japanese ppl and canadians. so when they came and they wanted the mini totes... and we kept asking "are you sure??? we have to wait in line for like 2 hours" since toronto doesnt have a queueing culture. but i dont think america does either, i think we just love capitalism and flexing for the gram. so yes, i did wait in a parking lot in 108 degree heat for $12 bags. and they felt bad like "is this what you had to do for these bags before" lol.

its nice being around family. i love doing Nothing with people i love. but we did give nick a blowout which he was definitely feeling lol. i realized that growing up vacations were always like this to me so its kind of what i want to do whenever i travel. for example in 2016 i spent one month in japan with my aunt so logically, we binge watched 2 different shows whenever she was home. one was a drama that went to the shinagawa aquarium and so we went to it and that was NOT the same aquarium they filmed at. and it kind of icked me out of visiting other aquariums in japan because it felt like animal cruelty in a way that monterey bay aquarium doesnt feel like LOL. and maybe thats why i like getting a group airbnb and not having a set itinerary but we all get together at the end of the night and were able to talk about our days and plan the next.

work was work but i'm free from my semi-mandatory OT!!! hes back to work!!! which is nice since its summer i can make plans to do things. what if i drive up to ashland to the shakespeare festival again? i'm honestly tempted!! i am planning at least two small trips before the end of the year... i also need to get my family to agree on a timefame for our big family trip... my mom might retire in january, then my dad shortly after. and i would love to take them on a trip. i need to stop burning through my PTO :) but then maybe i should work cuz that time and a half and double-time pay would be really nice... but then maybe my coworker should stop his sports betting addiction and pay me back so i have money.

he didnt tell anyone he was coming back so i went into work yesterday and left after a few hours. but it was fathers day so i dipped after a few hours to make my drive worth it. my grandparents drove down to visit for dinner too. it was nice up until my grandpa fell, he is fine now.
