weeknotes 32.3 late edition oops
some quick updates
writing from: airbnb
drinking: drinking 豆乳ラテ
eating: my favorite onigiri, family marts kombu flavor
(posting: late, and from bed because for some reason i thought i could easily post the last day i was in japan which was not true because i went across the city and did all last minute shopping and the airport)
i'm tired. i'm leaving to the airport tonight and ill land at 2PM and i have work the next day and i wake up at 3:30AM oops.
so i know i'm in japan and i should write about japan, but maybe not the itinerary and things like that but let me talk about work first.
okay 15+ people from my work got laid off. its tech adjacent so its not surprising but the people who got laid off is what's surprising. it was a lot of high level people who got walked out on monday. i have no idea what's actually happening. but my engineering directors (old and new) got laid off. i actually got a text asking if i can come in tomorrow for OT to work on some CIP things, i'm assuming because whoever is the replacement process engineering director is probably forcing more action lol. also my PTO was not approved until the day before i would have work in california, quite irresponsible but oh well.
japan has been japan, which is fun. i just don't know how to talk about it tonally because i feel spoiled in the way my itinerary is unlike a tourist and quite wasteful of time. like do i mention that i waited an hour for misaki to get her eyelashes done? or that we went to her boyfriends work because he was "sick" and didn't want to go to eat horumon with us after i mentioned it could be 英会話授業 since he will be going to dubai for a month.
i've always loved these 日常生活 things. i also love liminal spaces? what does this say about me.
i actually talked with one of my friends about it, how these trips used to be more of a once in a lifetime thing and now i've gone twice this year. strong usd to yen conversion will do that i suppose.
i don't want to really talk about the trip, mostly because i could (read as incredibly delayed but will) make a second post.
but i did go to tower records. (i actually live near the first tower records and have unknowingly gone into the record store that replaced it) and i just vibe bought a CD, i actually bought 11 CDs,,, abe-san also recommended me a bunch of new music too. 11 CDs gets really heavy when you carry it from sendai to tokyo. but i noted a bunch of artists that interested me!! lets just say that by か i already had too many CDs and knew it wasn't reasonable for me to buy anymore. haul details?? i'm kidding.
i also got two new pairs of glasses because it was only $130 USD for both and took 1 hour. i got super into pears while there. and i've always enjoyed a pear but there was a 洋梨ほろよい and i was obsessed with it. i got a cold brew younashi soda which was strange but it worked. i also love a cafe nico.
i'm extremely blessed to be able to travel like this but i actually have nothing to write about outside of the trip and dont want to write the same things twice.
already talking about the next trip, which i mentioned i wanted to go during citrus season and misaki also wants to go to kumamoto to pick dekopon lol.

next week i will have more to talk about since i got so much new music
