i was supposed to be in washington this week but end of the world and all kind of cancelled that. justin is in japan and i get to be in our group chat going "tfti" and also "しもき改札であおう" trying to now convince him to go to sendai to eat gyutan and get monaka. gyutan sound so good actually... this also makes me think i should post about last october when i was in sendai. if only i put more effort in. justin is only there for a few days because he was in malaysia, which is now a place i must go.
so everyone is playing marathon. i should join even though i suck ass at shooters and so i hate them. i should play video games more often. but whatever. i finally finished one book from the international booker longlist. which is not good because in the month since its been released i only finished 1 of 13. onto the next though!! although the wax child being hardcover actually discouraged me from reading because hardcover books are kind of pointless. theyre so annoying to hold. books should be floppy. anyways i liked the wax child. i think one thing that is going to be a complaint of mine for every single book in the longlist is that i feel like i'm missing so much without paired reading. i know basically nothing about denmark, especially in the 17th century and nothing about witches. same thing with we are green and trembling. i've seen a few people also drop this book so i feel better and less stupid. but contextually i was sooo lost it was hard for me to grasp what was happening, but maybe the blurb of the book could have been marketed better. now i will read the deserters or the remembered soldier. i'm not sure which. after this i need to buy the next ones and maybe i'll go to a bookstore after work tomorrow. or just wait until next week when the shortlist is announced and prioritize those.
nick broke his 2nd pair of glasses. we tried superglue, soldering and then taping and nothing worked so instead he is just using an old pair. after that we went to see donny benet. he is great. bummed it wasnt a fretless bass. but nick dropped his license and when we went to the venue they actually drew X's on his hands!!! i have been bummed because i havent seen that in sooo long i was very excited to see it around.
i want to talk about the BTS comeback but i also dont. because its mostly negative things. i'm excited they're back but i was so unsatisfied with the album. i've talked about this at length with multiple people and some songs have grown on me, but i dont know. i'm still going to the concert, but maybe i wont buy multiple days. and then maybe i'll regret that and buy tickets for other locations. but whatever!
