weeknotes 32.10
double digits!!!
3rd monday where i am sick. i am craving abalone, which is such an expensive and troublesome craving. i also want to knit a snood. btw xmas 2026 all gifts must be handmade. let me do a "2026 ins & outs"
vibe: just got back from bringing my grandma grocery shopping. and the soup section of the grocery store actually just has hot tamales (not the candy) which is kind of iconic and $2.50 for a tamal? great
drinking: drinking a yakult + sprite which i think negates whatever supposed health benefits are in yakult. but i love this combo so this is just for enjoyment.
i started today thinking how sad i was because i probably wont bake/make anything for christmas, but i just ended up buying candy wrappers for caramel because year after year thats the one thing people ask for but is also the most tedious and time consuming, so i will pay $17 or whatever for this shortcut.
anyways one recipe that has made it in my cookie box yearly since 2020 are these eggnog snickerdoodle cookies from the NYT cooking. but i hate paywalls and NYT cooking actually pays their freelancers garbage so here are the recipe screenshots.
vaughn vreeland has a cookie book that i should probably try out. also there is a cookbook store called omnivore books in sf that i have vowed to buy all cookbooks from, and if you feel like supporting small businesses instead of amazon dot com or barnes and noble please buy from them. my hack is also going to barnes & noble taking pics of recipes that seem interesting and then making them before committing to the book. 10/10 would recommend.
so probably these cookies, some type of ginger cookie and a few kinds of shortbread. why did i do this to myself? i'll update yall next week on what i bake.
i've gotten over my dislike of linking things, mostly just for weeknotes. any other post, yall are out of luck and its 10/10 mood dependent. but yesterday i went to temescal alley, which has always been cute way back in the day baggu had a store there. womb house books is there and understory. i went to look for a vest for nick but when i saw it i actually didn't really like it... if anyone knows a cool vest with a lot of pockets, gorpy and kind of loud please let me know. there are some other things in temescal alley that are cute, but mostly those two are worth visiting. i also saw yvt real quick this week to drop off stuff to her, but was too sick to hang out. please remind me tomorrow that its her sons birthday so i can text her, thanks.
michela told me "I've been thinking about how we can check in with our boss or have team weekly (meeting) but how often am I checking in with myself?!" which has been on my mind since wednesday. the entire conversation was nice full of one of the many thoughts that may become a Real Blog Post. she followed up that text with "idk talking to you makes me want to journal more" which i love, and i'm just self absorbed now. the only other random thing i have in my hobonichi is "i think i'm getting older because sandwiches look good now" which is what my coworker said. some people take journaling a bit seriously. but i love journaling. some of it should not be shared.
i shared this blog with a few people. because blogging is in for 2026. i could make a very meta blog post about blogging. which i might do. i could do a lot of things, but i will likely never prioritize my time well. i know myself too well.
i think i rambled on long enough without actually talking about my week. i even took a nap, oops. i'm going to look through cookie recipes or do something else though.
