you guys i've made a huge mistake by not preparing anything and being tired from working. its starting to feel like fall, i say this because its finally not 80 degrees, and it will probably even rain this week!! i'm burning the trader joes honeycrisp apple candle, this is a stupidly good candle. i buy one every year and savor it. it's only $3 or something else reasonable. i had to work today and i'm on my 4th cup of coffee, which should be my limit. also just so you know, i wrote like 4.8k words at work, which is probably all garbage but sometimes the work you do is like polishing a turd, and these are the cards i'm dealt.

it was my birthday last week so i actually did something. i'm in my jesus year. nick and i went to the rm x sfmoma exhibit. it was pretty nice. i've never been to sfmoma because none of the exhibits ever interested me. its kind of like how i've never been to alcatraz or driven over the golden gate bridge or all of these other quintessential sf things. one day.

so we went to the city, bagels for a pre-museum snack and coffee from paper son, and portuguese egg tarts from holy nata. on top of the absolutely yummy egg tarts my favorite aspect of holy nata is that they are closed on weekends, and it makes sense for downtown sf. but i love making weekend warriors suffer.

the exhibit was pretty interesting. to pair this experience i also read maggie nelsons bluets. which is hard to explain but its like philosophical propositions about blue, but much more than blue. incredibly tightly written book for being 99 pages. its like how i describe major (an anime series that premiered in 2004 which i've never been able to convince anyone outside of my brother to watch the full series) not as a baseball anime, but about goros life told through baseball. this is a very bad example for most people but for me, who has experienced both its actually the best i can think of. i dare someone to beat that comparison, and start by watching 154 episodes of a baseball anime. i'll stop talking about major lmao, i'll be serious now. there were actually a few parallels between the book and the museum, like the mention of international klein blue, and the small portion of joan mitchells work in the sfmoma. joan mitchell has a painting named les bluets, not at the sf moma, but how crazy that would have been.

another good pairing would have been a book about the gwangju uprising which i really only know of, but not anything in good detail. i really wanted to go into this blind, i knew a majority of the pieces was from his personal collection so i thought it might be like a ISG situation but it was broken into smaller rooms with specific themes which felt more personal. very interesting to see how an exhibition is curated, i think he did a pretty good job. like i read a book about the color blue because the first major piece is kim whanki painting, and focuses on the color blue. and to wrap it up with an umber section. a lot of the pieces also touch on life not only in a sense of morality but what it means to be human and what do you make of your life. so to leave an exhibit with a lot of thoughts is probably a good sign!!

anyways the one other thing i really liked at sfmoma was a piece by rosha yaghmai not even shown on the ig. out of all the museums i went to this year i liked mass moca the most, then the louisiana.

despite justin and i going on 3 international trips together we suck at meeting up for dinner. like almost went to two different restaurants an hour apart from each other. and thats just funny. we got sushi, and he got cake which he dubbed "the best cake hes ever had" and "the cake he wants for his wedding" and it was okay. like it was good, but a wedding cake?? crazy.

on friday we had cake for my birthday at work. i dont think we could fit even more people in a 10 person conference room if we tried. i have never had to cut slices that small. they made me give a speech (which we have done for no birthdays this year) was along the lines of "thanks for letting me bug you all the time and task you with lots of work" lol

but its like 9:30 i should probably cook dinner and get ready for bed... see you next week!!
