nathan came to visit so i obviously drove us to a different state instead
i'm quickly typing this while i sit at airport waiting for my flight
- should i try and fail to do blaugust? blogust? whats the spelling? that would be fun right?? going into it knowing i wont succeed?
- i'm going to say its all """san francisco"""" because i don't want to explain how car pilled i am and the fact that i generally mean the whole bay area. i guess i'm explaining it now. but typing 'sf' is way easier and i'm very lazy
nathan came to visit. with olivia. this means i have a new friend, mostly united by bullying nathan and handing him garbage to hold?
i dont remember why nathan decided to come to san francisco. most of the time if someone mentions coming to sf i question their sanity because why would you?? i know san francisco is a beautiful city... i actually graduated from sfsu... i wish i could recall whatever dumb shit i said to volunteer myself to drive to portland instead of wasting a whole week in sf.
anyways. i picked nathan up from olivias house and we went to a book store. in this week i bought 9 books. this was a terrible idea that will financially ruin me. nathan encourages me to spend too much money. and because i love in the mood for love and it was the 25th anniversary i forced nathan to watch with me in theater. i don't remember what else we did. we went up to the hills somewhere that olivia suggested and talked by a lake and walked around. also i guess they dont have lizards in boston??? which makes sense when i think about it.
side note; nathan rarely sees cyber trucks and i see them basically every day. i wanted him to see one every day he was here. he did.
i could not find film for my 35mm. i had to go to the target at stonestown mall(!!!) to buy fuji 200 and since we were at stonestown we went to round 1. and man that mall is not as dead as it was when i was going to sfsu... and since we were at stonestown what if we just took the 18 to go to andytown and get snowy plovers? just kidding they were closed already because i will never understand why coffee shops dont stay open later. 8pm is prime coffee time. they dont even call them snowy plovers anymore. but we went to visit pomoe at tunnel records, and i wanted to see the "new park" we ended up walking all the way up to ocean beach and went to a bookstore/cafe that was open. the girl working there had cool vibes. she told us we should find the best hamburg steak in boston. and nathan is tasked with that. and i did make it out of that bookstore without buying a book, thank god.
we spent the next day shopping in which i spent at least $400 without planning to. nathan wanted to go to a few stores and at one of them i ended up buying an expensive jacket. san francisco is cold,, its okay. thats how i justified it. we killed time in the mission and justin met us in sf. didnt give us a time, just a "omw" message and we had no idea what was happening, he didnt know where we were and we didnt even have a meeting spot. anyways we went to hilariously,,, another bookstore that i bought two more books... i think with 3 separate trips to sf nathan has been to a good chunk of the city.
i picked nathan and olivia up and we went to half moon bay. beach. we did beach things (not swim) the pacific ocean is really cold you know? and nathan and i cant swim.
yosemite! okay. i only live like 2 hrs away from yosemite. there is a rock on the hike to the vernal falls foot bridge, not very high up into the hike. i have always thought nathan took a picture of me in the rock. it wasn't. it was nick... and i dont even have the pic of me in the rock to show. but just know that i spent years gaslighting nick, nathan and myself about a picture of a rock.
i started my period this day. the mist trail was closed. mirror lake was low water. it was still nice. if you have only 1 day in yosemite i think you kind of need to go to the valley.
the goal of this day was to make it to ashland for the oregon shakespeare festival. we saw merry wives of windsor. i was soooooo confused for the first five minutes and worried that i forgot english and my brain no longer works. i could barely keep track. after a while i locked in though. i want to read the play and see what i think but i enjoyed it. i want to see how it was adapted though.
we finally made it to portland. we went to olivias parents house... such a nice house. they cooked us dinner. nathan and i got a hotel in portland basically just to sleep.
olivias parents are members of whatever cult allows them early access to the japanese garden. it was really really really nice. i love a garden.
after that we went to powells, which yes... i did buy more books(5). we parted ways at powells. after that nathan and i ate and walked around and looked at things and bought some things... no more books though. played some pinball and ate a lil pie that i bought 2 extra to bring home to nick.
i had to return the rental car so we headed back to the airport. oh, i forgot to mention i got a rental car in sacramento because its on the way north and i can just, fly into sac and drive home.
so we got to the airport and im saying how my flight is so short and ill land even before nathan flys out. and then my flight just ???????? stops? grounds? i was supposed to fly out by 9pm? and they didn't cancel the flight until 11? there was supposedly an IT problem. i didnt really care why there was a problem or what the problem is, because my problem is that i'm stuck in portland. i just go and get a hotel for the night and even though ive slept in the airport before, i had no idea when i was actually going to get home so i wanted to sleep in a real bed. so the lesson learned is dont rub it in your friends face because you will cause a nationwide IT system failure.
the rescheduled me to fly out two days later, which i could have done. but i didn't want to????? i wanted to go home. i was thinking about how if i just drove id be home in like 10 hrs max. or if i was stuck in seattle i couldve stayed with people i know. so i spent 6 hrs on hold to arrange my flight... i was going to fly from portland, to san luis obispo, then to sfo... then i needed to go to sacramento to get my car. but at least its the next day and not tuesday. i didn't get off the phone until 6am. and i realized i couldn't check in to the flight so i had to go to the airport early because everyone was most likely in the same position and i had to wait in line for nearly an hour just to check in. after that it was all good.
anyways,,, i do have more pictures between the ones nathan took, nick took and the 35mm. maybe ill revise this. probably not though ahahha
